This map projection looks attractive, and is especially popular with younger atlas users, for an obvious reason:
Although distortion of shapes is higher than in an equal-area projection, and areas are also not equal, because this projection is in essence a drawing of a globe, it is easy for the person viewing the map to make mental adjustments for its distortions.
